The Summoner Blends Magic, Adventure and Romance
Charlotte, NC -- Sep 1, 2006 --

The Summoner by Gail Zehner Martin  is a supernatural fantasy adventure novel filled with magic, ghosts, vampires, and romance, coming in February of 2007 from Solaris/Simon & Schuster.

In The Summoner, the dwellers of The Winter Kingdoms live with the dead.  Ghosts meddle in the affairs of the living.  Since the death of the last great Summoner, restless spirits have had no one to reconcile among the dead, the undead and the living.  Tris Drayke, the new Summoner, may die before he can come into his full power.  Fleeing for his life when his family is murdered, Tris is pursued by an evil mage.  His greatest danger is his own untrained magic, which he must tame in order to avenge his family and defeat the reborn Obsidian King.

The Summoner is the launch title release by Solaris, the new a UK-based fantasy and science fiction imprint from BL Publishing, the publishing division of industry-leading tabletop games company, Games Workshop. The Summoner is Book One of The Chronicles of The Necromancer.  The Summoner Returns, Book Two of the series, is due out in early 2008.  The Summoner is distributed in the U.S. by Simon & Schuster.  Ms. Martin is handled by the Ethan Ellenberg Literary Agency in New York City.
