Ravencon, Dark Haven Sneak Peek and a new Giveaway

April 18, 2008

Headed to Richmond?

If you’re going to Ravencon, look me up! I’ll be a guest
author next weekend (4/25-27) at Ravencon in Richmond, VA.
I lived in Richmond for a few years a while back, and it’s
my first chance to go back and check things out in a long
time. Looking forward to it! Let me know before 4/24 if
you’re going to Ravencon—I’d love to plan a get-together.
I know that James Maxey and Ed Schubert will be there for
sure!

Starting 4/15, check out the new Ghost in the Machine
podcast guest—mystery author Terry Hoover (Dead Again).
And coming 5/1, fantasy author Emily Gee (Thief With No
Shadow). You never know what we’re going to say, so make
sure you
listen!http://www.chroniclesofthenecromancer.com/page/page/5550992.htm

I’m putting the finishing touches on Dark Haven—almost
ready to turn in the manuscript to Solaris. I’m pretty
happy with it….LOTS of action and some new twists on magic,
the vayash moru and some other creatures you haven’t met
yet. You met Tris and the gang in The Summoner, and they
did some hard reckoning in The Blood King, but in Dark
Haven, innocence is the first to die.

Interested? Get the first sneak peek at Dark Haven on June
21! I’ll be doing Hawthorn Moon 2008—an online global
event with excerpts, interviews and giveaways. Here are
the site partners I’ve lined up so far: SciFi Chick;
Fantasy Book Critic; SF Signal; Chronicles of the
Necromancer; Solaris Books and BookLoons. There may be
more, so stay tuned and I’ll let you know what’s coming up!

In May I head for Baltimore and Balticon. I’m a guest
author, so I’ll be on I-don’t-know-how-many-yet panels.
I’ll also be doing a Rapid Fire Reading for Broad Universe.
Once again, let me know if you’re going and we can pull a
meet-up together.

After Balticon, I’m back in Charlotte for ConCarolinas. On
May 28, several ConCarolinas authors and I are getting
together for a group signing at the Joseph-Beth Bookstore
at SouthPark Mall. And I’ll be adding some ConCarolinas
authors into the podcast—details to come.

The other news is that come October, I’m doing a blog tour
in honor of Halloween/Day of the Dead. Seemed fitting
given that Tris is a necromancer and so many of his friends
are…well…dead. Here are the blogs so far that have agreed
to let me tour with them that week: Speculative Horizons;
AsIf DreamHosters; Shelfari; Fantasy Blogspot; The Book
Swede; Patricia’s Vampire Notes and the Solaris blog as
well as my own blog!

While you’re at it, check out the addition of The Blood
King on Patricia’s Vampire Notes and my pick for “Character
of the Week” on Speculative Horizons. I’ve also just been
interviewed on Dragonpage Radio, and coming May 16, I’ll be
live on Haunted Voices Radio!

*Giveaway* This week was National Library Week. I’m a big
library fan, and very much appreciate the libraries that
have added The Summoner and The Blood King to their
collections—it’s a great way for people to discover a new
series. So I’d like to say ‘thank you’ with a giveaway to
benefit libraries and you can help. If you know of a
small, no-budget or low-budget library that might
appreciate getting a free signed copy of The Blood King
(along with a signed Advance Review Copy), let me know by
May 15. Send me the name/address of the library, the name,
email address and phone number of the librarian in charge,
and a note about why you think the library should get a
free copy. I’ll pick the 10 most persuasive entries and,
if the librarians agree to accept the books, send them the
signed copies. I’ll announce the winners after May 15 here
on the blog. Let me hear from you!

And as always, if you love The Summoner and The Blood
King—please, share the love! Help me spread the word by
posting a comment or a review on Amazon, Barnes & Noble,
Waterstones, Play, Books A Million or your other favorite
online bookseller, web site, forum or blog! Your comments
just might bring a new reader across! Thanks for reading!
